WALKMAN Independence day Special: FREEDOM FROM SWEAT, WATER and WIRES

An ordinary Independence day weekend turned out to become a grand celebration of freedom as the pioneering personal audio brand Walkman reinvented itself through a street dance off.

Right smack in the middle of the outdoor main walkway of SM Megamall building B, a group of teen hiphop dancers challenged takatak boys and mall security guards in – of all things - a dance battle.

With every intense thrust, jump, and krump, the teen movers started by proudly proclaiming their identity and seizing their moment to shine. Energized by the new Walkman® W250, Sony’s first wireless and sweat-proof Walkman, they celebrated the freedom to dance.

With the new Walkman totally snug in their ears even without wires, the hiphop dancers moved their limbs freely, amazing the audience with their daring stunts. They impressed without pause, as Sony’s unique ZAPPIN technology combined the songs pre-loaded into their Walkmans into one seamless dance mix. And with the Walkman made water-resistant, neither pouring rain nor sweat from the heat was able to dampen the young dancers’ spirit of freedom.

While their dyanmic vigor first caught the ire of the takatak boys and the mall guards, it wasn’t long before the the teen hiphop dancers were soon able to convince them to try out the wireless Walkman W250s. The dance fever started by the Walkman was a phenomenon seen not only in the Philippines, but in other countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Vietnam as well.
