Winter has come to the Philippines.

VPRI and HBO Asia launched GAME OF THRONES with a screening night exclusively for Philippine entertainment journalists and bloggers in the middle of a raging typhoon on July 26, 2011. In the scenic ruins of the Baluarte de San Diego in Intramuros, the City of Manila, members of the Philippine media partook in dishes that called to mind the characters, places and events in the Emmy®-nominated HBO Original Series, like Winterfell’s Potatoes, Lannister’s Fowl and Sansa’s Favorite Lemon Cakes. After a sneak preview of the series, all attendees were grouped into Houses from the show and engaged each other in a quiz show-style battle for the Iron Throne. Twitter was abuzz with discussions of the event and the series. Ms. Jacelyn Kek, Senior Vice President for Sales and Marketing in HBO Asia, was present to grace the occasion along with Ms. Angela Poh, Senior Executive for Communications.

The highly-anticipated GAME OF THRONES, based on George R. R. Martin’s bestselling A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy book series, is ongoing with two new episodes back-to-back every Sunday night at 10:00 pm on HBO. Starring an ensemble cast of (in alphabetical order) Mark Addy, Alfie Allen, Sean Bean, Emilia Clarke, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Peter Dinklage (who has received an Emmy® Award for his role in the series), Michelle Fairley, Aidan Gillen, Jack Gleeson, Iain Glen, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Isaac Hempstead-Wright, Harry Lloyd, Richard Madden, Rory McCann, Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams, with the special participation of Jason Momoa, the ten-episode HBO Original Series premiered on August 28, 2011.
