John Adams, David McCullough’sPulitzer Prize-winning historical biography, has come to life in the HBOOriginal mini-series JOHN ADAMS. Produced by the teambehind HBO’s award-winning Band of Brothers, and claiming thirteenEmmys® and four Golden Globe® awards in 2008, JOHN ADAMS presents the extraordinarylife journey of the man whose fiercely independent spirit, reverence for therule of law and commitment to personal liberty profoundly influenced the valueson which America was founded.

For the Philippine TVpremiere of JOHN ADAMS on September 7, VPRIorganized a special advanced screening at the Charles Parsons Ballroom of theEmbassy of the United States of America on August 25. The entertainment media,students, youth leaders and even a few members of key Philippine governmentoffices were treated to the first episode of the seven-part series. USAmbassador to the Philippines Kristie Kenney gave the welcome remarks, and evenstayed afterwards to attend an open forum discussion on the politicallandscapes and situations of both the USA and the Philippines facilitated byAtty. Adel Tamano, president of the City University of Manila, and US EmbassyCultural Affairs Officer Martha Buckley. The event was capped by an on-siteluncheon courtesy of Alberto’s Restaurant.
